Carol Atwell Ackels

Carol is the Director of the Ignatian Spirituality Institute. A spiritual director in the ignatian tradition and Senior Ignatian Fellow of Montserrat Jesuit Retreat House, she helps others as retreat director of the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius in various formats, including weekend retreats, the Exercises in Everday Life, and one-to-one directed retreats.  She regularly gives programs and days of reflection to parish and Church groups, as well as workshops to help others move into the retreat ministry and spiritual companioning. Appointed by the Jesuit Provincial, she served six years on the province Commission on Ministry. Carol worked with Anthony Borrow, S.J. in developing the Toward Greater Freedom retreat for parents at Jesuit College Prep of Dallas, and co-authored with Joe Tetlow, S.J. the  twelve week ignatian retreat, Finding Christ in the World. Carol holds a J.D. from SMU Dedman School of Law and has worked with numerous Catholic organizations in communications and fundraising. She and her husband reside in Dallas and are the parents of five adult children.

Ron Boudreaux, S.J.

Fr. Ron Boudreaux, S.J. is Director of Montserrat Jesuit Retreat house. He gives numerous retreats at Jesuit retreat houses every year and has helped many others move into the retreat ministry. He has also served as formator of spiritual directors in the ignatian tradition throughout Texas and Oklahoma. In 2010, he was missioned to his tertianship studies at Weston, Massachusetts.  During that time he ministered with the Jesuit Institute of South Africa in Johannesburg. Born in the small town of Scott, Fr Ron graduated from the University of Southwest Louisiana (now University of Louisiana at Lafayette) with a BA in French, minors in English and Spanish.  He entered the US Army Security Agency in 1968, studied Russian at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California, and served as a Russian linguist in Germany until his discharge in 1972.  Ron received his Master Degree in Architecture from the University of Colorado in 1987. After entering the Society of Jesus in 1997, he went on to study philosophy at Gonzaga University and Loyola University Chicago.  He received a Masters in Divinity from the Jesuit School of Theology in Berkley, California in 2005.

Joe Tetlow, S.J.

Fr. Joe Tetlow, S.J. is known internationally as spiritual director, retreat director, and author. Tetlow's books include Ignatius Loyola: Spiritual Exercises and Making Choices in Christ, a compendium of the foundational theology of Christian decision-making. His guide for making St Ignatius Spiritual Exercises, Choosing Christ in the World, has been translated into a number of languages and is used worldwide to guide others through the Spiritual Exercises.

Born in New Orleans in 1930, Tetlow began seminary training just after World War II, completing licentiates in both Philosophy and Theology from Pontifical Faculties. His doctoral work in America social and intellectual history at Brown University focused on the development of American Catholic spirituality. Tetlow served eight years in Rome as head of the Society of Jesus Secretariat for Ignatian Spirituality, guiding the efforts of 250 Jesuit retreat houses worldwide and editing the Review of Ignatian Spirituality. Before moving to St Louis, he served as director of Montserrat Jesuit Retreat House in Lake Dallas, Texas. He currently resides in St Louis, Missouri as writer-in-residence. He also continues his ministry giving retreat and workshops in ignatian spirituality throughout the United States.​

Ed Quinnan, S.J.

Fr. Ed Quinnan, S.J. has many years of experience in spiritual direction and retreat work. A sought after director, he has given the Spiritual Exercises in its many forms throughout the United States. He serves as Provincial Assistant for Pastoral Ministry for the New England and New York Province, coordinating the activities of the Province parishes and retreat house. Fr. Quinnan became Associate Director of the Jesuit Collaborative in 2009, though since 2005 worked on the Collaborative’s founding team. As director of formation at the Collaborative, his portfolio has included working with the Contemplative Leaders in Action, Discerning the Future Ministries of the Spiritual Exercises on the East Coast, and Ignatian Discernment for Strategic Leadership.
