Guiding Groups

Guiding Groups

Mature disciples of Christ are guiding prayer groups, retreats, and biblical studies in the Ignatian manner throughout the United States and beyond. This online workshop invites Ignatian spiritual directors and guides of groups to confirm their grasp of the Ignatian way of proceeding in accompanying groups while deepening their own interior life in Christ.

How we will proceed:

The workshop will mine the wisdom and experience of ISI learned over twenty plus years of guiding small groups in schools, Catholic parishes and non-Catholic churches, retreat houses, and organizations.

The workshop will unfold over five online sessions.Themes will include gathering groups, small group listening models, the double dynamics at work with groups, the guide's role in accompanying a group, and of course, listening, listening, listening.  As we look into actual stories of small group accompaniment, we consider not only group members who come to us but the other seeker in the room: the Ignatian spiritual director.

Each session is 75 minutes and will include a brief talk on theme with given materials, prayer, triad discussions, case study, and a time for response to submitted questions. The sessions will begin online at 10:30 a.m. Central Standard Time and conclude at 11:45 a.m. Each session will be recorded and available to persons who are registered for the workshop.
