Place yourself in God’s presence.
Notice how you arrive—with your desires, hesitations, questions, and hopes. Allow yourself to be present to what is stirring within you.
Gently reflect on the following:
Desire and Invitation
- What draws me to the ministry of Ignatian spiritual accompaniment?
- What do I hope to deepen or discover through this formation?
- Is this desire rooted in a growing relationship with God and a desire to serve others, or am I feeling hurried to take a next step?
Relationship with God
- Am I tending a regular and honest life of prayer?
- Can I recognize and reflect upon the ways God has been present and active in my own life?
- Am I willing to continue growing in my relationship with God, allowing prayer to shape the way I listen and accompany others?
Interior Freedom and Listening
- Am I willing to listen more than speak, to accompany rather than direct?
- Can I allow another person’s experience of God to unfold without needing to interpret, resolve, or fix it?
- Am I willing to notice my own assumptions, attachments, and desires as I accompany another?
Presence and Reverence
- Can I offer another person my attentive and compassionate presence, trusting the mystery of God’s relationship with them?
- Am I able to remain with another’s story, even when it is complex, uncertain, or different from my own experience?
- Can I hold another person’s experience with humility, reverence, and care?
Openness to Formation
- Am I willing to be formed not only in knowledge and practice, but also in my own interior life?
- Can I receive feedback, engage perspectives different from my own, and allow myself to be challenged and changed?
- Am I open to learning from the Spiritual Exercises, the wider Ignatian tradition, and the wisdom of those who have lived and continue to live this charism?
Readiness and Commitment
- Am I able to make space for the sustained work of a two-year formation journey, including online gatherings, reading, reflection, and the June residency in Dallas?
- Do I have the time, energy, and support to participate fully in the life of this community?
- Am I willing to approach this formation with patience, fidelity, and a readiness to grow over time?
Pause again. Notice what stirs within you—peace, resistance, enthusiasm, uncertainty, or new questions. There is no need to force an answer.
Speak honestly with God:
What is the deepest desire drawing me toward this formation?
What might God be inviting me to receive, discover, or allow to change within me?
Is this the right time for me to enter this journey?
Trust that discernment takes time and that clarity often comes quietly.
You are not expected to arrive fully prepared or already formed. You are invited to come with a listening heart—open to God’s presence, attentive to your own interior movements, and willing to be formed for the sake of accompanying others.
