Spiritual Formation deepens experience and understanding of a person’s relationship with God. ISI's spiritual companioning formation program is for mature adults invited by the Lord into our ministry. Beyond the spiritual formation program, ISI regularly presents workshops and practicums for persons in the ministry of Ignatian spiritual direction and guiding others in the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius.

Giving Witness: a practicum to preach in the Ignatian tradition

This practicum is designed to form lay persons, Jesuits, priests, religious sisters and brothers, involved in or moving into the ministries of parish missions, days of reflection, or preached retreats rooted in the Ignatian spiritual tradition. The practicum will be held Monday, July 15 - Friday, July 19, 2024.

Practicing Ignatian Spiritual direction

ISI is partnering with Jesuit Retreat House on Lake Winnebago in Oshkosh, Wisconsin to offer Practicing Ignatian Spiritual Direction. This is a retreat-workshop focused on principles, values, and characteristics unique to the practice of spiritual direction in the Ignatian tradition. Participants will pray together, listen together, and learn together.

Guiding Groups

Guiding Groups: an online workshop

Mature disciples of Christ are guiding prayer groups, retreats, and biblical studies in the Ignatian manner throughout the United States and beyond. This online workshop invites Ignatian spiritual directors and guides of groups to confirm their grasp of the Ignatian way of proceeding in accompanying groups while deepening their own interior life in Christ.

How we will proceed:

The workshop will mine the wisdom and experience of ISI learned over twenty plus years of guiding small groups in schools, Catholic parishes and non-Catholic churches, retreat houses, and organizations.

Spiritual Companioning Formation Program

The ISI Spiritual Companioning formation program is for persons who feel invited to the ministry of spiritual companioning in the Ignatian tradition as well as persons who desire to guide others in the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius. Persons interested in the program will have completed the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius (complete 19th annotation or 30-day retreat). Applications of the next cohort will open in Spring 2024.
